What IT trends await us in 2021?

New technologies push the development of other technologies. And they in turn contribute to the development of others. And so in a circle. Some of the technologies already exist, but they are improving over the years. This means that the world does not stand still and is constantly moving forward.

2021 is rich in innovations. So, we have prepared an overview of interesting trends that will affect the IT industry.

Subscription growth for video streaming services

The streaming market in 2020 increased by 24% to 21.9 billion dollars and will continue to grow. And this is not only due to the appearance of Amazon, Hulu and Netflix services. The growth of the market will also come from other sources.

Debut streaming services such as Apple TV +, Disney +, HBO Max, and NBCU. This will lead to increased consumer spending on access to video on a subscription basis. As a result, more media companies will be able to develop their streaming services.

Also, it is worth noting the existence of sports platforms for streaming video on demand (SVOD). DAZN, ESPN + and B / R Live appeared in 2018, including NBC Sports Gold.

While mobile operators are increasing the capacity of 5G base stations, Japan and Korea will strive for 6G

5G Implementation Guidelines: SA Option 2 from GSMA 2020 describes technical details for 5G deployment from the perspective of mobile operators and global perspectives. It is expected that in 2021, operators will implement autonomous 5G architectures (SA).

5G SA architectures will allow operators to configure networks according to user applications and adapt to workloads. At the same time, Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and Korea’s SK Telecom are already focusing on 6G deployments. It enables various applications in XR, including VR, AR, MR, and 8K resolution and above. It also includes realistic holographic communications, WFH, remote access, telemedicine, and distance education.

AR glasses and smartphones integration will affect the emergence of cross-platform applications

In 2021, AR glasses will work in integration with a smartphone, which will act as a computing platform for the entire system. Such integration will significantly reduce the cost and weight of AR glasses. With the development of 5G in 2021, the connection of 5G smartphones and AR-glasses will allow more efficient processing of AR applications. This will also provide a wide range of personal entertainment multimedia functions. According to expectations, next year smartphones and mobile operators will enter the AR glasses market.

Mini-LED and QD-OLED as an alternative to OLED displays

Mini-LED technology will allow LCD TVs to control the backlighting areas more accurately. The contrast of their images will be higher than the current production TVs. Samsung LCD TVs with Mini-LED backlighting are as good as their white OLED counterparts, offering the same characteristics. And given their cost-effectiveness, you can expect the Mini-LED technology to become an alternative to OLED.

Samsung Display (SDC) is relying on its new QD-OLED technology as a technological innovation from its competitors. Since SDC is closing down the production of LCDs. SDC will strive to set a new standard in television technology with QD-OLED technology, which outperforms white OLED in color saturation.

Digital and Virtual Customer Care

In 2021, the service will be a rescue for 33 million consumers. Organizations will provide better and more emotionally responsive customer support.

Interaction with customers in digital format will increase by 40%. The production of online shopping, digital financial services, and telehealth capabilities will enable interaction with brands and search for channels for interaction.

Retailers and banks will create hybrid roles of store and contact center. Employees can use their knowledge and skills to provide online customer support.

Automation becomes a business imperative

Companies will pay attention to quality through better planning and testing of automation before its implementation and use by employees.

We can highlight remote work and support of the remote business.  For example, in 2021 20% of enterprises will expand investments in intelligent document extraction. Document extraction platforms will be able to classify and extract the necessary data for compliance risk management, electronic discovery, contract analysis, email.

Intelligent Automation Kits will provide one-quarter of all robotic process automation (RPA)  solutions. Intelligent Automation Kits will provide one-quarter of all robotic process automation (RPA)  solutions. By the end of next year, the RPA will be embedded in many platforms.

Gartner told about the trends in the IT industry, which should be paid attention to in 2021 and which are taking place in the world. In the next 5-10 years, according to analysts of the agency, they will lead to new business opportunities.

Internet of Behaviors (IoB)

Internet of Behaviors (IoB) includes various methods used to understand human behavior. For example, collecting data about a person’s location, how much time a person has spent in a particular place, information about their purchases, payment method, etc.

Companies may collect this data from their smartphone through applications and link them to other user devices. In this way, organizations can influence user behavior. With IoB, you can verify the effectiveness of your advertising campaign, measure the engagement of your target audience, and personalize your content.

Of course, IoB will raise many questions, both ethical and social.

Privacy-enhancing computation

Privacy-enhancing computing will include technologies such as providing a trusted environment for decentralized data processing and analysis, as well as data encryption and algorithms before processing or analysis. This way companies will not violate the confidentiality of users.

According to Gartner, by 2025, half of the large organizations will use technologies that increase privacy protection. This will help analyze the data, but at the same time keep users’ privacy.

Distributed cloud

A distributed cloud is the location of cloud services outside the provider’s data centers. It provides the flexibility to use cloud technology and meets the need for companies to bring cloud resources closer to the offices where their core business operations take place.

Organizations still benefit from the public cloud and do not manage their private cloud.

Anywhere operations

Anywhere operations is an IT operating model for flexible user support. Includes continuous access to data by employees from anywhere and from any device, including the management of company services on a distributed infrastructure. This technology will free users from the need to do business in a particular place.

By the end of 2023, 40% of organizations will apply the new model for optimized virtual and physical work with clients and employees.

AI engineering

AI improves model performance, scalability, interpretability, and reliability, but projects often face many challenges in implementing them.

According to Gartner forecasts, 53% of AI-projects go a full path from prototypes to production. Another trend will be to provide a reliable structure that creates a basis for designing, scaling and transitions new AI systems into production.

Hyperautomation

Hyperautomatization is an organizational approach in business management. It is used for fast automation of as many business processes and services as possible.

Hyperautomatization is developing rapidly, but the pandemic has shown that not everyone was ready to go online. As a result, new business requirements prompted more than 70% of businesses to take various initiatives to introduce hyperautomation, which will continue in 2021.

Total experience

The strategy of full experience implies the organization of mobile and virtual interaction between business and customers, users and employees. For implementation, enterprises need to expand traditional communication channels. Conversational platforms with improved voice control and dialogue management will change the way people interact with the digital world.

Gartner predicts organizations that provide total experience will be able to outperform competitors in key indicators within three years.

Cybersecurity mesh

Now, a cloud-based cybersecurity network enables anyone to securely access a company’s digital asset, regardless of where the asset or person is located. As the importance of data protection grows, the approach to security will also evolve.

By 2025 the cybersecurity network will control more than half of requests for digital access to information.

Intelligent composable business

Intelligent Composite Business is when applications and packaged business opportunities are treated as separate functional blocks available through an API.

They can be developed internally or provided by suppliers. The new structure will combine the business capabilities of individual packages and databases. This will allow companies to quickly reconfigure their business.
